Andrew Tuller / Elbow Coulee

“Christian mixed our recent album Elbow Coulee and we couldn’t be much happier with the process and the result. Christian has everything we were lacking; experience, patience, organization, and follow-through. The experience was evident in his proficiency and ease on his equipment. Anything we asked or wanted was granted when it came to manipulating and mixing the tracks. Not once did we have a problem that he couldn’t work out. We were most thankful for his ability to keep to a schedule. We were really floundering trying to finish the album and Christian came in and saved the day by laying out a plan and making sure we followed it. Christian was always available on the phone and internet and always helpful. He really saved the day on our whole project. – Andrew Tuller from Elbow Coulee

David Godsey / Open Space – Vashon Island

“Christian Heilman is our #1 go-to guy for perfect mixing. I always call him first. When Christian is at the sound board I know we are getting the best in the business. Whether it’s a 16 piece big band or Makana flying solo, the sound in the house is flawless. All the musicians rave about the monitor mix he delivers, and Christian is quick to adjust things on the fly. His demeanor is professional and cheerful, and he always delivers 110% satisfaction. You need great sound every time? Christian is the one to call.”

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Christian a number of times, where he was the FOH engineer, and every time I know I’m in good hands. He has a great feel for balance, transparency, and overall quality.  I would highly recommend his services to anyone for live sound!”

Chris Ameniya / Jazz Coalescence

Christian Heilman is a wonderful sound guy.  He has run the sound on a couple of live concerts for my jazz group, Jazz Coalescence.  In both cases, the performance spaces presented unique challenges, but Christian was the ultimate professional and worked to assure that the best sounds were conveyed to the audience.  Christian also recorded our band live in performance using his mobile recording equipment. His attention to detail and microphone choices were greatly appreciated, and Christian was both cordial and constructively critical on the subsequent mixing sessions at his studio.  Our finished product, “In the Rain Shadow” for the Origin label, received extensive airplay across the country. Many listeners, critics included, commented specifically on the clarity and quality of sound on the recording. Christian has a love for music in all its varied forms and is the organized and professional.  I look forward to working with him again.

 Cilette Swann / Gypsy Soul

“Christian is a pure joy to have on your team. He is one of the most present and conscientious sound support people we have ever worked with. Christian becomes that critical additional band member for the evening and is there for the event’s highest good, devoid of attitude and resistance. He is completely available for the artist in whatever way he can be to facilitate ease, calm and the best sound for both the musicians and the environment. When I know that he is mixing one of our shows, I instantly relax and know that I will wear wings on stage and shed any worry of having to assuage the sound person’s fragile ego to get what we need up there. With Christian on board, it is all about his service to the artist’s songs and the audience’s experience at the venue. Christian you are a true gift to bands everywhere!” – Cilette Swann, artist Gypsy Soul

Richard Lucas / Soundfarm Band

“I have known Christian Heilman for over 15 years, playing music, arranging gigs, promoting events, producing & engineering a CD, and I also hired him for a number of years for my company, Shasta Visions, to be my Mac computer technician, network administrator, graphic design and artwork coordinator, webmaster and all-around trouble shooter. He has a vast knowledge of all things Mac, and whatever he doesn’t know he can research, find out and fix in about 2 minutes. His attention to detail in our engineering projects has made our bands’ CD sound amazing, and he is constantly surprising me with new ideas, sounds and possibilities. He has a great work ethic, is absolutely trustworthy, and is an all-around creative genius I have thoroughly enjoyed working with and plan to for many more decades! Please feel free to call me anytime.” – Sincerely, Richard Lucas, bassist, Co-Producer – Soundfarm. Home 530-926-6002 Work 530-926-3333 Cell 530-598-0307 richard@shastavisions.com

Jack Forman / Recess Monkey

“Our band had the honor to work with Christian over a 4-month run at Seattle’s Teatro ZinZanni. We found him to not only be an exceptionally swift, meticulous and proficient sound engineer, but also enjoyed his good-natured, low-stress personality! How great is it to know not only that you can count on someone to be absolutely top-notch in their field, but also extremely cool under pressure and just a genuine pleasure to work with!? In addition to making us sound consistently great from one show to the next, he understood the importance of mixing for the mixed-age family audience that came to our shows- not always the case in the “louder is better” paradigm that often lives within the live sound community. What a guy; we’d recommend him highly and hope to work with him again.”

Annastasia L. Workman/Cafe Nordo

If you’re looking for a high caliber audio dude to mix your music, you want Christian Heilman.  He did a beautiful job mixing and mastering my album.  He’s extremely skilled, extremely reliable, and when I asked him for creative input he had excellent ideas that greatly enhanced the sound of my project.  He’s very patient, never rushed me through any decisions, and managed to figure out how to get me exactly the sound I wanted, even when my ways of communicating were….less than crystal clear.  He responded to my emails, returned my phone calls, made my album sound awesome, all with the utmost professionalism.  Guess what?  he’s also reasonably priced.

Walter Harley / Purty Mouth

I’ve worked with Christian as a fellow sound tech and as a musician for about ten years. In that time he has always been solidly reliable, tasteful, and motivated. I’ve been a sound guy for 30 years, and I’ve learned more from working with Christian over the last ten years than I have from anyone else in my career. He’s a master at finding the key elements of the music and getting them to the front, and doing it despite all the emotional, technical, and political challenges of a live show. In the studio, I’ve seen him take raw rehearsal tracks recorded with crap microphones in a living room and magically turn them into radio-ready mixes. As a musician, the mixes he’s done for my bands, both live and studio, have always hit the sweet spot of what the band was trying to sound like, sometimes when we didn’t know ourselves what we were aiming for. I am looking forward to working with him again soon.” – Walter Harley, fellow sound engineer, bassist of “Purty Mouth” (local Alt-Country combo)

“I am amazed that even working with Christian from another continent could be such a wonderful experience. He combines so many talents which focus into a brilliant audio result. I trust him, and that says it all.” Cheers, Neil
